加拿大萨斯喀彻温大学—计算材料科学方向—姚延荪(AP)—招收硕士研究生

　　.姚延荪(Assistant Professor)2012年底到依托萨斯喀彻温大学建立的加拿大光源工作，正在建立自己的科研组。

　　从2002年进入科研领域至今，姚延荪发表第一作者科研论文23篇。其中包括：3篇Phys. Rev. Lett.;1篇J. Am. Chem. Soc.; 1篇Proc. Natl. Acad. Sci.;12篇Phys. Rev. B。以上研究工作的大部分(17篇)是他在2008年博士毕业至今的5年内完成的。此外，他发表合作论文15篇，与其博士生导师 J. S. Tse，博士后工作合作者D. D. Klug，诺贝尔化学奖获得者R. Hoffmann 有紧密合作。

　　Yansun Yao's Summary

　　Yansun Yao is an Assistant Professor at the University of Saskatchewan, Canada. He studied applied physics at the Beijing Institute of Technology, China, and received his PhD in physics in 2008 at the University of Saskatchewan, where he carried out studies on high-pressure physics. After receiving his PhD, he moved to the National Research Council of Canada, Ottawa as a postdoctoral research associate. He obtained a staff scientist appointment in 2009, at the NRC, and left the job In 2012.

　　Research

　　His research may be described in short as ‘computational materials discovery’ that is interdisciplinary in nature and extends to the domains of condensed matter physics, quantum chemistry, crystallography, and synchrotron spectroscopies. This research is part of a broad material science program now being developed jointly by the University of Saskatchewan and the Canadian Light Source that will provide unique research opportunities for junior scientists through graduate studies and term appointments. The objective is to advance the understanding of the fundamental physical principles governing the nature of matter, which will lead toward the rational design of new materials with specific functions. His current research interests are:

　　1)Development of theoretical methods for infrared and X-ray spectroscopies for synchrotron-based studies at the Canadian Light Source

　　2)Application of state-of-the-art theoretical methods for structural and properties predictions of solids

　　3)Development of a theoretical understanding of reconstructive phase transitions by using advanced molecular dynamics techniques

　　4)Electronic structure methods, frontier orbital concepts, and band theories applied to molecular and crystalline systems

　　5)Hydrogen and boron chemistry, and its applications to energy storage

　　6)Theory of electronically ordered states including charge-density-wave and superconducting states
