Residency/Enrollment

　　M.Fin. students are required to enroll in the M.Fin. Summer term as well as two regular terms of full-time graduate study. MIT students who have taken both 15.401 and 15.402 prior to enrollment in the M.Fin. program may be permitted to waive the Summer term and will not be required to pay summer tuition.

　　Funding

　　Support typically includes personal savings, loans, fellowship/scholarship award, government or employer sponsorship, or some combination of these. Fellowship funds specific to the M.Fin. are currently not available. Students are, therefore, expected to be self-funded. 　　The Legatum Center at MIT administers a competitive fellowship program for incoming and current MIT graduate students, across all academic and professional disciplines. Candidates must demonstrate the potential to create innovative, sustainable, for-profit enterprises that promote prosperity in low-income countries and must be committed to implementing their business plans upon graduation.

　　The MIT Sloan Master of Finance is an intensive 12-month program designed to prepare students for a broad range of careers in the financial industry — careers requiring analytical rigor and the ability to innovate around market challenges.

　　M.Fin. students arrive at MIT Sloan in the summer. They plunge in to foundational coursework and career development programs followed by two semesters of required and elective courses. All M.Fin. students are required to complete courses in finance theory and corporate accounting, an advanced course in the analytics of finance, and a proseminar. Proseminars allow students to put theory into practice on real-world projects directed by leaders in finance.

　　At MIT Sloan, concept-based action learning is delivered by offering exceptional learning opportunities outside the traditional confines of the classroom. For M.Fin. students, this begins with the proseminars and extends to a host of laboratory courses, treks, and speaker events at MIT.

　　目前美国的金融类硕士分为三种、金融工程(Financial Engineering),金融(Finance),和金融分析(Financial Analyst)。金融工程强调数学和计算机背景，申请较为困难，而且就业方向主要为期货、股指相关高薪但就业机会不多的行业。金融专业申请相对难度要小，但是理论性强、就国际学生而言，就业形势不如其他两个方向。金融分析专业与市场营销、人力资源管理等专业不同，它的hard skills不论在哪个国家都可以通用，同时该专业的国际学生在美国不仅就业率高，薪水高，而且还相当受人尊重。此外，该专业的硕士学位申请难度要比其他金融类硕士要小的多。但是整体来说，金融专业申请起来还是比较困难的，而且由于将来的资金回报比较高，所以拿奖得可能性比较小，如果想要拿到奖，必须有一个很强的背景来支持。
