Project: Plasma-catalytic destruction of environmental pollutants in waste gas streams
An exciting opportunity is available for a fully funded PhD studentship to work on Plasma-Catalysis in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Electronics at the University of Liverpool.
The project will focus on the plasma-catalytic destruction of environmental pollutants (e.g. volatile organic compounds (VOCs)) in waste gas streams. A range of catalytic materials and processing parameters will be evaluated to understand the chemistry and synergistic mechanisms of the hybrid plasma-catalysis process and to determine the key parameters involved. This work will be carried out in close collaboration with the academic and industrial partners involved in the project.
Applicants should be highly motivated and have:
A minimum of an Upper Second Class degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Plasma Physics, Environmental Engineering, or equivalent
A Masters degree is desirable
Previous experience in the use of plasma, catalyst or gas analysis will be an advantage
It is intended that the post will begin on 1st March 2013 with a tax free ￡16,000 stipend per annum. The tuition fee at the 'home/EU' student rate will be fully covered by the project.
