　　The Kazakh-British Technical University (KBTU) is a university for a new generation. Its primary institutional goal is to educate, train, and produce highly qualified graduates to become leaders and influencers in the most promising sectors of the economy of Kazakhstan and beyond. These sectors include economics and finance, oil and gas, information technologies, and telecommunications.　　Founded in 2002, KBTU is a dynamic and growing university. It is modeled after research-intensive universities and is working toward inclusion in world academic rankings. The innovative campus of KBTU unites the leading research institutes of the Republic of Kazakhstan and fosters the integration of education, science, and industry.　　Currently, there are five Faculties at KBTU:　　Faculty of Energy and Oil-Gas Industry (FOGI)　　Faculty of Information Technology (FIT)　　Business School (BS)　　General Education Faculty (GEF)　　International School of Economics and Social Sciences (ISE). ISE is a joint project of KBTU with the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). The graduates of ISE earn two Diplomas upon successful completion of their programme - a KBTU Diploma and a Diploma from the University of London (UoL).　　KBTU is considered the Affiliate Center of the University of London. This prestigious status is recognition of high international standards of education at ISE. The language of instruction is English.　　In 2011 KBTU passed national institutional accreditation by the Independent Kazakhstan Quality Assurance Agency for Education (IQAA). Four programmes of FOGI were accredited by the international accreditation agency IMarEST (UK) in 2009. In 2011 three FIT programs received accreditation at ABET(USA). Currently FEF undergraduate degree programmes are preparing to start an accreditation process with the international agency AACSB (USA).　　The teaching staff of KBTU is represented by leading professors and scholars of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and includes experts from such countries as the UK, the USA, Canada, the Netherlands, Denmark, Poland, Russia, Turkey, India, and Malaysia.　　KBTU students are engaged in internships in major national and international companies such asKazMunaiGas, Tengizchevroil, KazTransOil, Karachaganak Petroleum Operating, and Agip KCO, which are members of the KBTU Industry Advisory Board. KBTU graduates are competitive specialists in the leading sectors of Kazakhstan’s economy.
